Dear West Jefferson Middle School families,

We received a Safe2Tell report right before school started today regarding a safety concern about someone bringing a bomb to school.

The Jeffco Public Schools Department of School Safety & Security and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office searched the building and are investigating the situation at this time to determine the validity of the threat.

Following our school safety protocol, staff and students were kept outside of the building, staged on the field, while law enforcement searched the building and nothing suspicious was found. Law enforcement will stay onsite to ensure the safety of staff and students.

We understand that some families may choose to pick up their student from school today given the current situation. We will provide more updates as soon as we have additional information.

We realize it can be alarming to receive these types of messages. Please know we are following all district procedures and protocols prioritizing staff and student safety.

Sincerely,

Kim Halingstad
Principal
