Fundraising

Silhouette of a groundhogFun Run

Our primary school fundraising event is a fun run. For the 2018-2019 school year, the PTA has teamed up with The Get Movin’ Crew to provide an effortless way for you to ask friends and relatives to support our school through a Groundhog Fun Run on February 1, 2019.

What are we asking families to do?

  • Register your student on www.thegetmovincrew.com. The Get Movin’ Crew and the school will not use your e-mail beyond this event.

  • Build your student’s fundraising page, send a few e-mails asking friends and family to join your fun run team, and share on social media.

Our school’s fundraising goal is $15,000. If we reach our goal, we will turn Mr. Schoenhals into an ice cream sundae!

All donations are due online or to the office by February 5, 2019. Donations in the form of cash and checks should be turned in to the school. Please make checks payable to WJMS PTA. 100% of all cash and checks collected and 90% of online donations will be shared between the PTA and the school, so more of the money we raise will directly support the school - and you don’t have to sell anything.

Individual Classroom Fundraising

Individual teachers at our school may use DonorsChoose.org for classroom projects.

Other Fundraising Opportunities

The PTA coordinates many fundraising opportunities to support the school. A detailed list of PTA fundraising events is available on the PTA's website. Highlighted opportunities:

  • Shopping through American Furniture Warehouse with the promo code "SCHOOL" and either our school name (West Jefferson Middle School) or code (WJMS68) nets a donation of 2% back on all purchases and 4% on Simmons products. This can be done at any store location, online or by phone.

  • Eudaimonia Human Flourishing Center in Indian Hills offers a free trial class and a percentage of memberships that list West Jeff Middle as their referral back to our school. They offer classes for all ages, including parkour/ninja warrior-style training, mixed modality HIIT classes, yoga and therapeutic exercise classes.

  • Shopping through Schoola for quality gently-used clothes online nets 40% of the amount spent back to the school associated with purchased items.

  • Collected Box Tops for Education are sent in twice a year. In the 2018-2019 school year, the proceeds support purchasing playground balls for the recess cart, which is maintained by our counselors.

  • Nights where local restaurants donate a percentage of their sales in a certain time period to the PTA. These are announced in the Weekly Wednesday Update and promoted on the outdoor marquee, the front page of the website, and as events on the PTA's Facebook page.
