Eclipse Watching Information

The following information was sent to families via SchoolMessenger on Friday, April 5 with the subject "WJMS Eclipse Viewing". The content has been formatted for the web.

Hello, West Jeff Middle families.

On Monday, April 8, there will be an eclipse that will be viewable from Conifer. While we are not in the path of totality, we still get a pretty good show with 65.1% coverage of the sun. Weather could work against us, but there is a chance that we might have a clear morning before next week's storm…

The maximum coverage in Conifer is at 12:39 pm, so the eclipse viewing schedule will look like the following:

WJMS Eclipse Viewing Schedule:
Eclipse Viewing Schedule
Lunch A
11:10 - 11:45
P3 11:14 - 12:11

Students head outside  12:25

Eclipse maximum  12:39

Students return inside  12:50

P3
11:49 - 12:45
 Lunch B
12:11 - 12:46
P4
12:15 - 1:11
P4 12:49 - 1:45 Lunch C
1:11 - 1:46

As this occurs during the latter half of B lunch, students will meet in Advise classes on the athletic field. Grouping by Advise will make distribution and collection of glasses much easier.

We have eclipse glasses for all students and staff. Students will head outside at 12:25 and students will return inside at 12:50.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Little at [email protected] or Mr. Squires at [email protected].
