Today is Administrative Professionals Day, celebrated annually on the Wednesday of the last full week of April. We are thankful for Mrs. Barrett, Mrs. Jessee, and Mrs. Dickinson, and the work they do for our school!

Students are encouraged to wear a Day Without Hate t-shirt (current or past years) or wear white to school on Thursday, April 25. Jeffco students observe A Day Without Hate on the last Friday in April with activities that promote non-violence, respect, and unity within our schools.

There will be no school for students on Friday, April 26. Classes will resume on Monday, April 29.

An update was sent to families on April 18 regarding a note turned into the school office that was possibly threatening in nature. The note and situation continue to be investigated. There is no evidence to suggest our building is unsafe. If you have any questions, please contact our main office at 303-982-3056. Students that have any information to share may do so via Safe2Tell.

The draft minutes from the April School Accountability Committee meeting are available on the school website. The next meeting will take place on Monday, May 13 at 4 pm.

Seventh grade students interested in being a WEB leader in the 2024-2025 school year may ask Mrs. Buffington for an application during class this week. Applications are due May 1. Eighth grade Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide sixth graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school through activities, support, and encouragement. Potential WEB leaders will want to plan to be available for the following dates: period 5 on Monday, May 6th (you will be excused from class, but not the work you missed), 9 am - 12 pm on Tuesday, August 6, and 8 am - 3:45 pm on Wednesday, August 14. Eyewitness to History

In alignment with our journey to become a No Place for Hate®- designated campus and to recognize A Day Without Hate, West Jeff Middle students will participate in the Mizel Museum program Eyewitness to History: A Holocaust Survivor Speaks, featuring speaker Osi Sladek, on Thursday, April 25. We will have a modified schedule and students will start in Advise from 8:45 - 9:45 am to take part in this learning opportunity.

Adult family members are welcome to attend the event. They should plan to check in at the office upon arrival, and will be hosted in Room 109 in a Coffee with Counselors format.

The program's curriculum is scaffolded to ensure the presentation is grade level appropriate and addresses state requirements for Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Colorado Public Schools. If you have questions about this programming, please contact Melissa Shute at [email protected].
