Veterans Day

Veterans Day

West Jefferson Middle began honoring our community's veterans in 2015 with driveway signs, a wall of honor, and a reception following an in-school assembly.

2018 Veterans Day event

Vietnam veteran and nature photographer Steve “Grizz” Adams spoke to the assembly. 8th grade teacher Mr. Cushing initiated the Wall of Remembrance to honor fallen service members related to the school and led a penny wars fundraiser to purchase the five service flags presented during the ceremony.

Retired USMC Colonel Joseph Musca spoke to the assembly. Our combined choirs performed an Armed Forces medley with the 8th grade band and orchestra students.

2016 Veterans Day event

Brigadier General Laura Clellan of the Colorado Army National Guard spoke to the assembly, along with brief remarks from several local veterans with ties to our school.

2015 Veterans Day event

Our inaugural celebration included students writing letters to veterans and collecting over 150 pounds of Halloween candy for the troops; both were distributed through Operation Gratitude. Thank you to the PTA for doing the sorting, boxing, and shipping!
