Dear West Jefferson Middle School Staff and Families,

We are notifying you that a security sweep has been completed. The Jeffco Public Schools Department of School Safety & Security and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office gave us clearance for students and staff to return to the building prior to the start of first period.

We are continuing to investigate the root causes of these reports so that we can ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.

Once again, we will continue to take threats and the communication regarding them seriously. Please remind your student that any potential safety concerns should be reported to you and to the school, no matter how insignificant they believe it might be. Students may also call the Safe2Tell program to report safety concerns anonymously at 877-542-7233, online at https://safe2tell.org/, or the app (iOS | Android).

We deeply appreciate the support and patience we have received from the community. We are especially grateful for our Watch D.O.G.S. and additional volunteers who were onsite to support students this morning.

We understand and support a family's right to decide to keep their students home today and will excuse their absence.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our main office at 303-982-3056.

Sincerely,

Kim Halingstad
Principal
