Upcoming Dates

March 28: 6th grade Honor Roll assembly, 10:30 am

April 2: 8th Grade Continuation planning meeting, 5:30 pm online

April 2 - 4: CMAS testing, 12:45 pm dismissal

April 16: CMAS Science testing for 8th grade students

 

School News

Families of students that will be recognized in short Honor Roll assemblies for Trimester 2 grades will receive a notification via SchoolMessenger the week of March 11th. A GPA of 4.0 is recognized with Gold Honor Roll; a GPA of 3.9-3.5 is recognized with Silver Honor Roll. Families are welcome to attend.

Thursday, March 28: 6th grade, 10:30 - 11:10 am

Friday, March 29: 7th/8th grade, 10:45 - 11:10 am

 

Information on the elective selection process for current seventh grade students will be communicated soon. Families may view a list of elective classes in their student’s Google Classroom for their science class. Please contact Mr. Keane at [email protected] with questions.

 

Our next Coffee with the Counselors will take place Friday, March 29th from 8:45 - 9:45 am in room 109 on the subject of interpersonal relationships and the neurodivergent brain with a guest from the Colorado Center for Neurofeedback & Peak Performance. While this topic may appeal especially to families of students that have been identified as gifted and talented, neurodivergent learners, or living with ADHD, all are welcome to join for this engaging conversation. Please complete the Coffee with the Counselors RSVP form if you plan to join us!

 

Our students will have 12:45 pm dismissal on April 2, 3, and 4 for CMAS testing. Please refer to the Spring 2024 CMAS Testing Information post on the school website for more detailed information. Our Gold Crown girls' basketball teams recently placed first and second in tournament play. Way to go!

 

The draft minutes from the February School Accountability Committee meeting are available on the school website. The next meeting will take place on Monday, April 22 at 4 pm.

 

Students that eat school lunch, please have your student ID ready to scan the barcode in the lunch line. If you need a replacement ID, please email Mrs. Baker.

 

Students that have formed teams for the Jeffco Middle School Battle of the Books should be reading the books and taking notes in preparation for our school competition.

 

Individual counseling services with Resilience 1220 therapists are now being offered at our school during the school day. If your student already works with a Resilience 1220 therapist and you are interested in your student meeting during the school day, please reach out to your therapist directly. Adult family or community members available at the beginning or end of the school day to help keep the drop-off and pickup of students safe and well supervised are invited to volunteer with our Watch D.O.G.S.! PTA News

There will be an online meeting for 8th grade Continuation planning on Tuesday, April 2nd from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. To receive the online meeting link, please use the 8th Grade Continuation Planning Committee SignUpGenius. We will be picking a theme, decorations, food, games, memory board - whatever we think would make their big day special. Join us for a night out at Urban Air on Thursday, April 25th from 4 - 8 pm. A portion of the proceeds will benefit our school. More details will be coming soon.

Jeffco Public Schools is hiring! There are available positions in many areas for adults interested in working for Jeffco Public Schools. Learn more about available positions and apply online on the Jeffco Jobs Board at jeffcok12jobs.org.

We have an immediate opening at our school for an Independence Support Para Educator: Job 26181 - Para Educator - Independence Support 6th Various. The position is .875 FTE (7 hours/day) and starts at $19.13/hour.

 

Healthy School Meals for All: Mountain Resource Center invites families to help continue ensuring funding for Healthy School Meals for All, the program that voters approved that has been feeding all our school children at no cost in Colorado, by completing the Meal Benefits Application. No matter when families fill out the application, it can help with future funding!

 

College Financial Information Seminar: Families are invited to a seminar on college funding at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, March 27 at Conifer Library. Hosted by financial advisor Jeanie Boymel with guest presenters, this is a no-cost informational event. Free registration is encouraged to help the event planners know how many attendees to expect.

 

Satos Run Club: Registration is open for a running club program open to students in the mountain area. Training sessions are every Wednesday and Saturday from March 27 through May 18. Please visit the Satos Run Club website for more information.

 

Spay-Ghetti Dinner: Planned Pethood International and Intermountain Humane Society invite the community to join them for a Spay-Ghetti Fundraiser and Awareness Dinner on Thursday, April 4th from 5 - 7 pm at West Jefferson Middle School. Tickets are $10/person and includes dinner, dessert, and beverages, as well as the opportunity to meet Dr. Jeffrey Young from the Animal Planet series Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet.

 

Gold Crown Girls' Flag Football: Registration is open through April 12 for the Gold Crown Foundation's new Girls Flag Football Spring League. The program will be delivered in a practice/play model where teams have 45 minutes of practice and two 30-minute games each Saturday from April 13 through May 18 at the Wheat Ridge High School turf fields. 6th - 8th grade girls' practice/play time is 10 am - 12 pm and the cost is $125/player.

 

Outdoor Gear Swap: Evergreen Bike Club is holding an outdoor gear swap on Saturday, April 13th from 11 am - 3 pm outside of Evergreen High School. Attendees may buy and/or sell any outdoor equipment (no weapons please), or donate items to raise funds for your choice of the Conifer High School Mountain Bike Team, Evergreen MTB team, or Evergreen Bike Club. Sellers are asked to RSVP using the form on the Gear Swap page.

 

Football Weightlifting Camp: Conifer Lobos Football invites middle school football players to attend weightlifting camp from 6 - 8 pm April 15 - 18 at the Conifer High School Weight Room. The camp is open to students in 6th - 8th grade and the cost is $25, payable at the door using card, cash, or Venmo. Please fill out the form to sign up.

This will be a great opportunity for middle school football players to meet the high school coaches and players. Athletes will learn more about the high school facilities, correct lifting techniques, etiquette in the gym, and increase strength. On Thursday, April 18th at 7:30 pm we will have a meeting for 8th grade parents, to provide information about the Conifer football program and answer any questions you may have. We hope to have the athletes at camp every day, but understand many of have other commitments, come when you are able.

Juniors Recreational Mountain Bike Program: Registration opens January 3 for a recreational mountain bike program in Conifer offered by Avout Racing. Practices will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting April 16 for the spring season. Most practices will be held at parks in or near Conifer. National Charity League Meet & Greet: The National Charity League is a national non-profit organization that encourages community service and volunteering opportunities for mothers and their daughters in grades 7 - 12. Families interested in learning more about the Colorado Foothills Chapter of NCL are invited to our annual Meet & Greet on Sunday, April 21, from 2:30 - 4 pm at Evergreen Fire Station #2, 1802 Bergen Parkway. Mountain Predators Football and Cheer: Registration is open for the 2024 Mountain Predators tackle football and cheerleading season! First-year players may register for free using the code MYFNEW at checkout. Early Bird pricing ends April 30, 2024. Summer Musical Theatre Camp: Registration is open for Ovation West Performing Arts and Mountain Youth Musicals’ summer programs at CenterStage in Evergreen. Programs for middle-school-aged students include Theatre Tech one and two-week sessions and a two-week session for students ages 12 - 14 by June 1 to perform scenes from Hadestown.

 

Safe2Tell Student Ambassadors: Safe2Tell Colorado is actively searching for students who are positive examples in their school and community and who embody social consciousness, empathy, and compassion. If you are interested in student safety, mental health, and/or equitable access to resources, the ambassador program is an excellent opportunity to engage in challenging conversations and be part of the solution to issues teens face. Incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible.

Resilience1220: Connect, Grow, ThriveResilience1220 events: Resilience1220 is a local non-profit organization that provides free counseling sessions and support groups for young people ages 12-20, and community outreach and events that increase awareness of mental health issues.
