Back to School Information

As summer winds down, we have information to share for our families to be prepared for classes to start.

When is the first day of school?

Sixth grade students begin on Wednesday, August 14th. Their first day includes a guided tour of the school and structured team-building activities as part of the WEB program. Seventh and eighth grade students that are new to West Jeff this year are invited to come to the school after lunch; please contact a counselor for more information if this applies to your student.

All students begin attending regular classes on Thursday, August 15th. The doors open at 7:20 am and classes start at 7:30 am. The school day ends at 2:20 pm.

Sixth grade schedules will be available on Campus/Parent Portal after 3:00 pm on Monday, August 12. Seventh and eighth grade schedules are expected to be available on Campus after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13.

What does my student need for school?

Please refer to our School Supply List, which details the supplies for students' core classes (English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies). Supplies for elective classes will be communicated by the teachers. Paper copies are available at local stores: the King Soopers at 25637 Conifer Rd, the Safeway at 27152 Main St, and the Staples at 10853 US Highway 285.

What do families have to do online for the new school year?

The following items should be completed by all families in Jeffco Connect. Your username and password for Jeffco Connect are the same as your username and password for Parent Portal. If you are locked out of your account or forgot your password, you can reset your password.

Once you have logged in, click on your student's name to access their information. If you have more than one student, you will need to click on each one and go through the check-in process.

Reminder: If your student is new to Jeffco, you must first enroll them. Once enrolled (or if they are already enrolled as a Jeffco student), then follow all of these steps.

Check-In Steps in Jeffco Connect

  1. Click on Residence to verify that your home address and mailing address are accurate.

  2. Click on Contacts to verify parent/guardian and emergency contact information is accurate, including email addresses and phone numbers.

  3. Click on Enrollment and check listed boxes as applicable.

  4. Click on Agreements, then read and sign the agreements for the Student and Family Handbook (Code of Conduct), Bring Your Own Device, and opting out of publications.

  5. Click on Health to read about the Colorado Immunization Information System and either approve or not approve. Enter any significant health concerns your student may have.

  6. Click on Home, then Jeffco Student Fee Payment. Families may make payments for the current school year with a debit or credit card. You will need your student’s ID number to pay fees. Families with multiple students may pay fees for all of their students in one payment.

  7. If your student(s) will be purchasing lunch at school, click on SchoolCafé to make payments for lunch. A $2.95 fee will be charged per transaction.

Where do we find more information on SchoolCafé and lunch menus?

Jeffco Public Schools offers detailed instructions on how to set up a SchoolCafé account and add students, make online payments, and apply for free or reduced price lunch on their Online Payments page.

Our lunch menus can be found in the SchoolCafé app or on the SchoolCafé site.

We are new to the area. How do we register our student for school?

Please call the school between 7 am and 2 pm to begin the enrollment process. Some student enrollment and registration information can be submitted online via Jeffco Connect.

For each child enrolling, the following documents are required:

  • Birth certificate;

  • Immunization Record (immunization requirements in English / en Español);

  • Proof of residency (house contract, deed, lease agreement or bill mailed to the home);

  • Address, phone, and fax of last school attended, or copy of previous school records.

Where can I find community assistance for ensuring my student has what they need for school?

The Mountain Resource Center in Conifer can assist families with required immunizations and school supplies. Their school supply distribution event for current clients only is from 9 am to 1 pm on Thursday, August 1st. If you are a current client of MRC, please make sure that your information is up to date in their system; if you are not yet a client, please schedule an appointment to complete an intake form and meet with a family advocate. Questions may be directed to Lisa at 303-838-7552 x18 or

The free and reduced lunch program application is available online through SchoolCafé. If your student was enrolled to receive lunch benefits at the end of the previous school year, their status will carry over until early September.

Families interested in receiving a bag of non-perishable food each Friday afternoon to help over the weekend may complete and send in the form linked below or contact counselor Craig Enlund to request enrollment. There are no requirements to qualify for the program. Bags are delivered every Friday throughout the school year, beginning the week after a family enrolls, and the bags are delivered without identifying or singling out recipients.

What after-school activities are held at the school?

While we do not have after-school care for students, there are some weekly and/or seasonal opportunities available at our school:

  • Heart & Sole, the middle school program of Girls on the Run, meets after school over a ten-week period in the fall or spring, depending on participation.

  • Jeffco Public Schools and area park and recreation districts offer the Middle School Sports Program, which offers several sports throughout the year. Families are encouraged to register promptly for the early fall sports: cross country after school on Mondays and Wednesdays and flag football on Tuesdays and Thursdays; both begin the week of August 26.

  • Gold Crown Foundation offers girls' volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter; both have evening practices at our school.

  • Mountain Lacrosse is offering a four-week Learn to Play clinic that will practice on Wednesday evenings in September and October.

Please see our Clubs & Programs page for additional information on after-school activities.
