Parent-teacher conferences will take place in-person at our school on Thursday, February 8. Meetings are scheduled in seven-minute intervals with teachers. More information is available further in this week’s newsletter.

Schools across the country will celebrate National School Counseling Week 2024 the week of February 5. Sponsored by the American School Counselor Association, the week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. We are thankful to have Mr. Enlund, Mr. Keane and Archie, Ms. Schute, and Ms. Elio focused on our students!

Our sixth grade "When Life Hands You Lemons" Day will be Friday, February 9. This all-day, in-school event for our sixth grade students helps develop self-efficacy, motivation, and growth mindset. The event includes a presentation on key concepts, team building and growth mindset activities, and ends with a lemonade social for students to reflect on what they have learned, build relationships with our eighth grade WEB Leaders, and get to know their peers in a relaxed setting. Please contact Mr. Keane with any questions or families to request their student(s) not participate in this day.

All Jeffco families are invited to complete the 2023-24 Panorama Education Family-School Relationships Survey by Friday, February 23. Our learners are our future, and your feedback will help our district continue to make decisions and measure outcomes based on how well we serve our students.

The draft minutes from the January School Accountability Committee meeting are available on the school website. The next meeting will take place on Monday, February 26 at 4 pm.

Students that eat school lunch, please have your student ID ready to scan the barcode in the lunch line. If you need a replacement ID, please email Mrs. Baker and note your Period 2 class.

Families of instrumental music students have been sent a letter about a change to the instrumental music programs for the Conifer articulation area. Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, Mr. Cartner will be the 6-12 band director and Ms. Sarché will be the 6-12 orchestra director, teaching at both West Jefferson Middle School and Conifer High School.

Students that have formed teams for the Jeffco Middle School Battle of the Books should be reading the books and taking notes in preparation for our school competition. The winning team at each middle school will compete at a district competition on May 13.

Every January and February, Jeffco schools collect items for Grub Club, a program that provides boxes of food items and toiletries to Jeffco high school students in need. This year, West Jeff Middle is collecting macaroni and cheese cups through March 8. Direct donations may be made online

As part of regular monitoring of water quality at our schools, recent drinking water test results showed levels of Haloacetic Acids (HAAs) within acceptable range. The average level over the last year remains out of range due to the high sample value in August 2023. Please refer to the informational letter about our drinking water test results. For more information about school water quality, please contact Ray Cosby at 303-789-1549 or [email protected].

Adult family or community members available at the beginning or end of the school day to help keep the drop-off and pickup of students safe and well supervised are invited to volunteer with our Watch D.O.G.S.! Please contact our Lead WatchDOG, Daniel Tucker, with any questions at [email protected].

The annual letter reporting our school's immunization and exemption rates for school-required vaccines has been published.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences will take place in-person at our school on Thursday, February 8, 4:30 – 8 pm. Conferences can be scheduled on the February 8, 2024 Conferences SignUpGenius.

You may select your student's core teachers by subject area on the tabs at the top of the SignUpGenius page, see the video for help. Meetings are scheduled in seven-minute intervals with teachers. The SignUpGenius closes on February 7 to allow schedules to be prepared for teachers.

If you have a specific concern(s) you wish to discuss at conferences, please e-mail the teacher to ensure your message gets to them. If you would like to problem-solve and/or discuss ways to support your student's learning, please sign up for a time slot to meet with one of our counselors under the Mental Health tab.
