School News
Students' TechForEd Chromebooks will be sent home over the summer with all students. Please refer to Chromebooks Over the Summer for more information on TechForEd Chromebooks.
Our choir students will perform on Wednesday, May 24 at 6 pm in the cafetorium. Students should plan to arrive at the school by 5:45 pm.
Our school office summer hours are 7 am to 2 pm weekdays through June 13 and July 10 through August 8. The office will be closed June 14 through July 9. Regular office hours of 7 am to 3:30 pm weekdays begin on Wednesday, August 9.
Adult family members and community members interested in having a voice in what's going on in our school are invited to attend a School Accountability Committee meeting in the upcoming school year. The May 2023 draft minutes have been published on our school website.
Virtual mental health support is available at no cost to families through Hazel Health. With an adult family member's permission, students can be matched with a therapist for weekly video therapy sessions. Learn more and consent for services at my.hazel.co/jeffcopublicschools.
Eighth grade reminders
PTA invites eighth graders to celebrate at the Summer Nights 8th Grade Continuation Party from 6 to 7:30 pm on Friday, May 26th! The beach-themed event will include a DJ, photo booth, food and drinks, as well as fun games and a prize giveaway. The event is open only to current West Jeff Middle eighth graders. A completed digital permission slip is required for entry.
Eighth grade students should keep their current school-owned TechforEd device over the summer. They will exchange it for a new one in the fall during Freshman orientation. Please see the 2023/24 Incoming 9th Grade Families TechforEd Communication letter for more information.
Summer Food Information
The Rotary Club of Conifer's 285 Backpack Project weekend food program goes on hiatus during the summer. Supplemental food resources for families are available in our area through the Mountain Resource Center.
The Mountain Resource Center offers a food share market Monday through Thursday, 1:00 – 3:45 pm, at 11030 Kitty Drive, Conifer (behind the Staples shopping center). The MRC's mobile food share offers free food from a refrigerated van weekly at locations around our area, including Indian Hills, Marshdale, Pine, and Bailey. Please see the website for exact times and locations.
2023-2024 School Meals
Starting July 1, families can complete a Free & Reduced Meal application for the 2023-24 school year on SchoolCafé. Paper applications are available from schools and at the Food & Nutrition Services office, 809 Quail Street Building 1, Lakewood. If you have questions, please call 303-982-6916 or email [email protected].
Families can use SchoolCafé to view school menus and set up an account to make payments to their student's meal account, place restrictions on items and frequency of their student's a la carte purchases, and apply for free/reduced price lunch. SchoolCafé directions are available on the district's Food & Nutrition Services website.

Adult volunteers interested in helping put on the 8th grade Continuation celebration on Friday, May 26 may confirm the role(s) they would like to help with at the Summer Nights 8th Grade Continuation Party SignUpGenius.
Thank you to the donors and volunteers that helped provide great experiences and opportunities for our kids in the 2022-2023 school year! We couldn't do what we do without support and are thankful for the many ways you have helped this year.
Area businesses interested in advertising at our school along the fence may work with our PTA to rent a portion of the fence to display a 4' x 8' laminated aluminum composite sign. Please refer to the WJMS PTA Fence Sign Sponsor Letter for more information on this program.

2023 Library Summer Challenge: Registration is open for Jefferson County Public Library's Summer Challenge! Have fun in the sun while you earn points and win prizes during the challenge, June 1 – July 31. Register on May 1 to grow with great reads, blossom your interests, write inspiring stories and sow the seeds of kindness in the world around you!
Girls' Basketball Camp: Registration is open through Monday, June 12 for Little Lobos Girls' Basketball Camp. The camp is open to girls entering third through seventh grades and will meet from 9 - 11 am daily, June 21 - 23 in the gym at Conifer High School. Summer Piano Opportunities: Grace Piano Studio in Evergreen has an introductory monthly rate for students interested in their recreational, variety, or classical course tracks this summer.
Girls' Lacrosse Camp: Registration is open for girls' lacrosse summer camp! The camp is open to girls entering first through eighth grades and will meet from 9 am - 12 pm daily, August 1 - 3 at Marshdale Fields in Evergreen. Mountain Predators Cheer: The Mountain Predators youth football program is organizing a cheer and poms program for the Fall 2023 season! If you have a 2nd through 8th grader interested in cheer, please reach out to Alli Brennan at [email protected] or register on the Mountain Predators website.
South Jeffco Track and Football: Registration is open for the summer track season with South Jeffco Track. The season for athletes in first through eighth grades runs from May 30th through July 20th with twice-weekly evening practices at Columbine High School. Registration is also open for the fall football season with South Jeffco Football. Practice may begin July 31st and games begin August 28th and go through mid-November.
