School News
Chromebooks will not be available for daily checkout from the library after May 11. Students' TechForEd Chromebooks will be sent home over the summer with all students. Please refer to Chromebooks Over the Summer for more information on TechForEd Chromebooks.
We will have student music performances the week of May 22:
Band: Monday, May 22 at 6pm
Orchestra: Tuesday, May 23 at 6 pm
Choir: Wednesday, May 24 at 6 pm in the cafetorium. Students should plan to arrive at the school by 5:45 pm.
The draft minutes from the May School Accountability Committee meeting have been published on the school website. Adult family members and community members interested in having a voice in what's going on in our school are invited to attend a School Accountability Committee meeting in the upcoming school year.
Virtual mental health support is available at no cost to families through Hazel Health. With an adult family member's permission, students can be matched with a therapist for weekly video therapy sessions. Learn more and consent for services at my.hazel.co/jeffcopublicschools.
Adult family or community members available at the beginning or end of the school day to help keep the drop-off and pickup of students safe and well supervised are invited to volunteer with our Watch D.O.G.S.! Please contact our Lead WatchDOG, Daniel Tucker, with any questions at [email protected].
Students that do not feel well during the school day may ask their teacher for a pass to the health room. Their adult family members will receive a call from the school (303-982-3056) if their student needs to be picked up. Families, if your student contacts you during the day to inform you that they are ill and want to be picked up, please direct them to go to the health room.
Eighth grade reminders
PTA invites eighth graders to celebrate at the Summer Nights 8th Grade Continuation Party from 6 to 7:30 pm on Friday, May 26th! The beach-themed event will include a DJ, photo booth, food and drinks, as well as fun games and a prize giveaway. The event is open only to current West Jeff Middle eighth graders. A completed digital permission slip is required for entry.
Eighth grade families, PTA needs your photos! Please send a baby photo of your student, a current photo (school or candid), and their name to [email protected] by May 19th to be included in the Continuation slideshow. Thank you!
Eighth grade students should keep their current school-owned TechforEd device over the summer. They will exchange it for a new one in the fall during Freshman orientation. Please see the 2023/24 Incoming 9th Grade Families TechforEd Communication letter for more information.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to our Teacher Appreciation Week celebrations last week. We couldn't do it without you! Special thanks to Easy Entrees by Silver Spoons for catering the teacher and staff lunch.
Adult volunteers interested in helping put on the 8th grade Continuation celebration on Friday, May 26 may confirm the role(s) they would like to help with at the Summer Nights 8th Grade Continuation Party SignUpGenius.
Area businesses interested in advertising at our school along the fence may work with our PTA to rent a portion of the fence to display a 4' x 8' laminated aluminum composite sign. Please refer to the WJMS PTA Fence Sign Sponsor Letter for more information on this program.

Jeffco Public Schools is hiring! There are available positions in many areas for adults interested in working for Jeffco Public Schools. 2023 Library Summer Challenge: Registration is open for Jefferson County Public Library's Summer Challenge! Have fun in the sun while you earn points and win prizes during the challenge, June 1 – July 31. Register on May 1 to grow with great reads, blossom your interests, write inspiring stories and sow the seeds of kindness in the world around you!
Girls Basketball Clinics at Conifer High School: The Conifer Lady Lobos Basketball team will be holding weekly clinics for middle school girls from 3 - 4:30 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning Wednesday, May 3rd. These FREE clinics are open to any experience level to improve on individual ball handling, shooting and footwork skills, as well as team skills to improve your all-around game. Mountain Predators Cheer: The Mountain Predators youth football program is organizing a cheer and poms program for the Fall 2023 season! If you have a 2nd through 8th grader interested in cheer, please reach out to Alli Brennan at [email protected] or register on the Mountain Predators website.
Resilience1220 events: Resilience1220 is a local non-profit organization that provides free counseling sessions and support groups for young people ages 12-20, and community outreach and events that increase awareness of mental health issues. Some of their upcoming events:
