COVID-19 Notification

The following letter was sent to families on Tuesday, May 10 with the subject "Updated COVID Parent/Guardian Notification Letter". The content has been formatted for the web.

Dear Families and Staff,

We have recently experienced an uptick of positive COVID cases in our school. Related to exposures, schools will no longer be identifying close contacts by classroom. If you think your student may have been exposed in school, monitor them for symptoms, leverage testing whenever possible, and follow guidelines below.

Please review and follow our district's current isolation and quarantine protocols aligned with CDC guidance.

If you have COVID or symptoms of COVID: Regardless of vaccination status, positive cases of COVID and those with symptoms should isolate for 5 days past symptom onset or positive test collection date for asymptomatic cases. The individual can return to school on day 6, so long as they have not had a fever for at least 24 hours without using medication, and no longer have symptoms. No test is required to return.

If you think you or your child have been exposed to COVID (are not positive and have no symptoms): Vaccinated asymptomatic people are not required to quarantine. Unvaccinated people exposed to COVID are now required to quarantine 5 days past the exposure date. If the unvaccinated person has not developed any symptoms of COVID since exposure, they can return to school on day 6. No test is required to return.

Students who test positive or develop any of the symptoms listed here should not come to school. Please notify the school of your child's absence. We also encourage you to continue to seek out COVID testing and call your medical provider. For a list of testing sites in Jefferson County, visit Jefferson County Public Health's website.

Masking at this time remains optional, but is highly encouraged. Please continue to watch your email for further communication as we monitor this situation and work with JCPH on possible next steps.

Thank you,
