West Jefferson Middle - Important COVID-19 Health Alert - Positive Case(s) of COVID-19
Students/Staff determined NOT to be close contacts of a COVID-19 case(s).

11.19.2020

Dear West Jefferson Middle Families and staff,

There has been a case of COVID-19 in your school. Each case of COVID-19 is interviewed by Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH). As part of this public health investigation:

  • The person diagnosed is being kept home from school until they are no longer infectious.

  • The person’s mask use, social distancing, and activities while infectious were assessed.

  • The people who were close contacts of the person(s) with COVID-19 are instructed to stay home from school for 14 days after the exposure. This is called quarantine

The families and staff known to have close contact with the person with COVID-19 have been notified and instructed to keep their children home. Staff who were in close contact have also been instructed to quarantine.

If you are receiving this letter, either as a staff member or a student, we do not believe you were in close contact with anyone with COVID-19. You do not need to stay home and observe quarantine or isolation precautions, but you should regularly monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.

If you develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19:

  • Follow these isolation instructions.

  • Please go get tested.

  • Stay home from school and avoid other activities around other people.

  • Notify the school immediately if you get COVID-19 tested.

  • Seek medical care and testing for COVID-19, calling your doctor before you show up.

Schools who have had more than one positive case will only be sending this notification letter out once in a two week period. If there are more than one case in a two week period, the numbers will reflect on Jeffco's Dashboard located here. Dashboard information does lag behind 24-48 hours. If there are 5% or more positive cases in one school in a two week period, there will be additional information sent out to all families with next steps.

If you have further questions, please contact Jeffco Public Schools' COVID Resource Nurses at DLCOVIDQuarantine@jeffco.k12.co.us.
