Two days remain in the Spirit Week we are celebrating to wrap up 2019:

December 19: Ugly Sweater Thursday
Wear your ugliest sweater, holiday-related or not, for a chance at winning a prize at lunch!

December 20: Mismatch Friday
Come to school in your very best mismatched outfit: plaid and flowers, polka-dots and stripes, hoodies and slacks, gym shorts and a button-down... just wear your very worst outfit!

Families, please help us keep spirit week a fun time by ensuring your student stays within dress code guidelines. Questions, comments or concerns may be directed to social-emotional learning specialist Mrs. Baker at or to an administrator.

There will be no school for Winter Break from December 23, 2019 to January 3, 2020. Classes resume on Monday, January 6.

Current eighth grade students will be registering for 2020-2021 high school classes in January. Conifer High School counselors will be visiting eighth grade classes on Tuesday, January 7 to distribute registration materials and discuss the registration process with students. There will be a curriculum showcase at Conifer High School from 5:45 - 8:00 pm on January 8th. Please discuss registration and plans for high school with your student. In January, schools across our district will be collecting non-perishable food for Grub Club, a program that provides homeless and emancipated teens attending Jeffco Public Schools with food and hygiene products. This year, mountain area schools will focus on collecting canned chicken with pull-top lids. The 2020 Grub Club Food Drive will be collecting items from January 13 to February 7, 2020. The drive is a collaborative effort of The Action Center, the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA), the Jeffco Education Support Professionals Association (JESPA), and Jeffco PTA.

Students will be participating in the National Geographic GeoBee in January with preliminary rounds in their classes. The top finishers will take part in the school championship round on Tuesday, January 14 8:10 - 9:10 am in the WJMS library.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, January 15th by teacher invitation and on Thursday, January 23rd by appointment. Elective teachers will be on a drop-in basis in their rooms.  A link for January 23rd conference sign-up will be published after winter break. Students are welcome to attend conferences; they must stay with their adult family members the entire time.

The Coffee with the Counselors series continues in January with Behind the Academics, which will be presented during parent-teacher conferences on Thursday, January 23rd. More information will be available after winter break. Your input is welcome to inform future topics:

Family-School Partnership Survey

Our school is committed to ensuring that your experience with our school is collaborative, successful and helps your child(ren) learn and grow. We want to know how we are doing. Please consider sharing your feedback through the Family-School Partnership Survey. The survey is anonymous and will only take 10 – 15 minutes. Results will be used to improve our school and your child(ren)’s learning environment. The survey opened Monday, December 2 and closes Friday, December 20.

EnrollJeffco first round enrollment open

EnrollJeffco is our district's digital enrollment system. From December 10, 2019 to January 15, 2020, all families will use EnrollJeffco to indicate what school their student(s) will attend for the 2020-2021 school year. The steps to login and enroll or apply were e-mailed to all families with current Jeffco Connect accounts on Tuesday, December 10 via SchoolMessenger. The message may be viewed on the district website or on our school website.

2019-2020 yearbooks may be purchased for $30 through January 31, 2020 in either of two ways: online through Jeffco Connect, findable under Jeffco Student Fee Payment, or by check, made out to West Jefferson Middle School and sent to the school office, that notes the student's name and "yearbook" in the memo line.

Non-reserved yearbooks are sold on a first come, first serve basis at the end of the year. Ordering in advance guarantees your student will have a yearbook.

Honor Roll Assembly Changes

Starting this year, our school will be holding an Honor Roll recognition ceremony at the end of the year instead of at the end of each trimester. Students that have achieved honor roll will be recognized for their academic achievements for all three trimesters. More information regarding the date and time of the ceremony will be available in the near future.

Cafeteria Positions Available

If you know someone interested in working a 4-hour shift weekdays with the same days off as our students, our cafeteria has openings for two part-time kitchen workers. The hourly pay starts at $12.48. Interested candidates may contact Jeffco Food & Nutrition Services at 303-982-6748 or apply through the Jeffco Job Board website.
