On Thursday, October 18, there will be a double-header of performances in the cafetorium with 6th grade drama students presenting the comedy Cliques and Cafeterias by Laura Toffenetti, which pokes fun at middle school life, at 6:30 pm. Following the play, the 6th grade choir will be singing their concert, "Music from Movies", at 7:30 pm. Their set list includes: The Greatest Show, This is Me (both from The Greatest Showman), Circle of Life (Lion King), Candle On the Water (Pete's Dragon), Seize the Day (Newsies), If You Can't Rock Me (Stuart Little), Windsong (Mighty Joe Young), When You Believe (Prince of Egypt), Trashin' the Camp (Tarzan), and Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride (Lilo and Stitch).

Hat Day on September 24

Did you know that Rotary International has helped reduce cases of polio worldwide by 99.9% since 1988? We are recognizing World Polio Day this Wednesday, October 24, with a hat day fundraiser. Donate $1 or more to wear a hat all day at school and your money will help Rotary obtain vaccines, transport, and materials to continue the push to end polio.

Veterans Day Wall of Remembrance

As part of this year's Veterans' Day celebration, Mr. Cushing's Advise class is creating a "Wall of Remembrance" upon which they are inviting all members of the Conifer community to place pictures of their family members who have served in the military in whatever capacity, and whom have since passed away.

Please include the following with your picture: (1) the honoree’s name, (2) their birth year, and year of death, (3) their branch of service, and (4) any comments, notes, on honors received. Photos will be accepted for the Wall of Remembrance through the end of October.

Go to mrcushing.net/veterans-day.html to download a copy of the Wall of Remembrance template.

Sixth Grade Families: Outdoor Lab Notes

Our sixth grade students are going to Outdoor Lab during the week of October 22nd.

Students have been asked to bring their pre-packed daypacks with them to school this Friday, October 19.

Please check the Outdoor Lab Packing List to make sure your student has the items they need! Items may also be borrowed at the Outdoor Lab site once students arrive.

Sixth grade students need to be dropped off at school on Monday, October 22, no earlier than 9:00 AM and picked up from the school on Friday, October 26, by 12:30 PM. They cannot ride their regular bus routes on Monday morning or Friday afternoon, so please make arrangements for transportation with their luggage if an adult family member is not available at those times.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your student's Advise or science teacher.

Medications for Outdoor Lab: Please pack only the amount needed for the week in the original containers, unexpired, and kept together in a zip-lock bag labeled with your student's name.

An adult must bring the bag of medication in to the school on Monday morning, October 22, and check it in with the clinic aide to ensure the medication goes to the correct Outdoor Lab location. An adult will also need to pick up the bag after students return.

Prescription medications must have a prescription label with your student’s name. All inhalers must have a label with the child’s name, usually found on the box. If you no longer have the box, your pharmacy may agree to make a new label.

All essential oils must have instructions provided from a doctor on when to use, how to use, and how much to use.
